Family monk

19.5.2015

Question: Sir, can you please explain 'samsaaradalli iddange Sanyasi aagu' (Be a family monk).

Answer: It insists you to remain a family man and become a monk. As renunciation is related to mind, it doesn't matter where you are, whether you are in the house or forest. It matters whether you are attached or detached. While you do something, attach with it. Once you finish the work, detach from it and don't carry it with you mentally.

The problem is in carrying things mentally when you are not in contact with them physically. If you are carrying past, you will miss the present. In fact, renunciation means giving up the past and living in the present. Without understanding that the detachment should happen inside, people are going away from things physically without giving them up mentally.

If you understand that you should be detached mentally, no need to run away from the family. You can be a renouncer being in the family itself. You can do all your duties but still you can be detached. Family is a laboratory where you can test yourself everyday. So, purification will be quicker. This is the meaning of that quote.

Good Morning... Give up the past and live in the present.. 💐
